Uche Sparks Dominant Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting very quickly. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding win that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match provided a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

Control Established from the Outset

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.

The formerArsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
